A True Aussie Outback Gem

For generations, the Benambra Hotel has been a gathering place for locals and travelers alike. Originally a watering hole for cattle drovers and gold prospectors, today it welcomes bikers, hikers, and adventure seekers from all walks of life. Steeped in history and brimming with character, our pub remains a cornerstone of the Benambra community.

Our story dates back to the 1870s when Mary Murphy, known as “Old Ma Murphy,” operated a sly grog shop to serve miners and pioneers in the Omeo Plains. Her modest canvas tent evolved into Camden House, a timber structure that still forms the hotel’s accommodation section today.
Officially licensed in 1886, the hotel has weathered floods, fires, and drought, standing as a testament to the region’s resilience.
The Tomkins family became part of this legacy in 1994, and today, Erin Tomkins leads the hotel with a blend of historic charm and modern hospitality.
Whether you’re stopping in for a night or catching up with mates, you’ll be welcomed like family.

Adventure riders, mountain bikers, and road enthusiasts often make Benambra their pit stop, especially with the nearby Omeo Mountain Bike Park and the Hunt 1000 route attracting more visitors each year.

We’re proud to host Pub Club Raffle Days, where members can win meat trays, merch, and enjoy $5 pots from 5–7 PM, plus discounts on meals.
